Professor Hiroshi Kawamoto, an executive director of Rebirthel and the Vice Director of Institute for Frontier Life and Medical Sciences, Kyoto University, appeared on the TV program “Hodo Station” presented by ANN of TV Asahi on June 8th, 2021.
Professor Kawamoto firstly explained about the mechanisms how antibody and killer T cells work against viral infection, and then introduced the strategy to use killer T cells regenerated from iPS cells for a treatment of the novel coronavirus infection, followed by statements concerning the priority of Rebirthel’s strategy, the timing of the therapy, the efficacy of killer T cells on variants of SARS-Cov2 in comparison with that of antibody, a roadmap towards the clinical application, and possible future applications for other known and unknown viruses, in the former part in the edited video containing microscopic images and CG, while in the latter part by the live interview-style using Zoom.
